Freedom of information
The Freedom of Information (FOI) Act gives you the right to access information held by public bodies in the UK, including the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman.
As the expert in good administration we are open and accountable in our work and take our freedom of information responsibilities seriously. We welcome the rights of access set out in the Freedom of Information Act and publish a wide range of material about our activities and on subjects in which there is known to be a public interest. Your right of access allows you to ask for information that may not be readily available.
Find out about how to make an FOI request.
Please note that under our legislation our investigations must be conducted in private and the information gathered for the purposes of those investigations can only be disclosed in very specific circumstances. We must also balance our wish to operate openly and transparently with our duty to protect the personal and confidential information that we hold. Therefore the information that we can place in the public domain about our investigations is limited.

Our Publication Scheme is currently under review but you can still access information about PHSO, our governance, performance, priorities and expenditure on this site. If you cannot find the information you are looking for, please ask us by contacting foiofficer@ombudsman.org.uk.
