Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman appoints Claire Forbes as Director of Communications

The Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) has appointed Claire Forbes as the new head of the Communications Division.

Claire takes responsibility for the corporate communications, branding and design, public affairs and internal communications functions of the office.

She brings with her 14 years’ experience of directing communications and marketing strategies to achieve corporate objectives. Most recently she was Director of Communications for the Youth Justice Board and has held a similar role at the Advertising Standards Authority.

She will report directly to the Ombudsman, Ann Abraham and a member of the Executive Board.

Ann Abraham said, “I am delighted to welcome Claire to the team. I know her professional experience and insight will bolster our existing communications capacity and help build PHSO’s public profile.”

Claire commenced the role on 1 December.

  1. Ann Abraham holds the post of UK Parliamentary Ombudsman and is also Health Service Ombudsman for England. She is appointed by the Crown and is completely independent of Government and the NHS. Her role is to provide a service to the public by undertaking independent investigations into complaints that government departments, a range of other public bodies in the UK, and the NHS in England, have not acted properly or fairly or have provided a poor service. There is no charge for using the Ombudsman’s services.
