Investigation update: Dudley GP accepts our recommendations in full

Here you can read an update following our investigation

In September 2011, we published the findings of our investigation of a complaint about Dudley GP, Dr Hampson.  His treatment of the complainant, Mrs S, had left her feeling ‘bullied’ into leaving a GP practice that her family had been with for 24 years.  We had upheld the complaint about Dr Hampson, but he had refused to accept our recommendations to put things right. As a result, we decided to put the details of the case in the public domain in the hope that Dr Hampson would be encouraged to acknowledge the distress Mrs S had suffered and act to address her concerns.

Following the publication of our report, we are pleased to note that Dr Hampson has accepted our recommendations in full.

In December 2011, Dr Hampson provided an acknowledgement of his failings, an official apology, £500 compensation for the complainant and an action plan to prevent the same thing happening again.
