Delay in dealing with an application for leave to remain in the United Kingdom
The Ombudsman upheld a complaint by Mr and Mrs A that the Immigration and Nationality Directorate (IND) had delayed unduly in resolving Mr A's application to remain in the United Kingdom (UK). The Permanent Under Secretary of State at the Home Office apologised to Mr and Mrs A for those delays and, following the Ombudsman's intervention, IND swiftly resolved Mr A's application granting him 12 months leave to remain in the UK.
