Since 2017, all organisations within the United Kingdom with more than 250 employees have been required to publish details of their gender pay gap. The requirements of the Equality Act 2010 (Gender Pay Gap Information) Regulations 2017 are to publish information for the six specific measures detailed in this report.
As of 31 March 2025, we can report that:
- The difference between the mean hourly rate of pay for men and that of women was 7.0%.
- The difference between the median hourly rate of pay for men and that of women was 13.3%.
One key factor contributing to the mean and median gender pay gap is that we employ a small number of Clinical Advisors. These include NHS consultants, who are paid under the terms of the relevant NHS framework, which is outside our control. Excluding this group positively impacts our mean gender pay gap, which would otherwise be 3.4%, with a median pay gap of 5.7%.
As at the 31 March 2025, PHSO employed around 534 people of which 61% were women.
