Hear from our staff

The Ombudsman's investigators at work in our Manchester office.
Investigation Manager

We asked some of the managers and caseworkers in our Manchester investigation team what it's like to work for the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman. Here's what they said:

People bring their complaint to us because their experience has given them cause for concern. Being able to analyse the evidence and provide clarity or closure is extremely rewarding. As I didn’t have a background in casework, the training and support from managers really helped me to transfer my skills when I joined the organisation.'

'There have been plenty of learning opportunities since then and I enjoy working with such a diverse group of people. It’s a very cohesive environment and I couldn’t ask for better colleagues - there’s always support when you need it.'

Working for the Ombudsman brings a new and exciting challenge every day. It offers the opportunity to help members of the public and organisations in a meaningful way. I have learnt great communication skills and have become more responsible in managing my own workload. It's a very rewarding role.'

'Working for the Ombudsman is so rewarding. I feel valued and part of a team who dedicate themselves to making a difference.'

From day one I felt part of the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman family. The training was incredible and I've learnt so much in my first year. Deciding to apply to work here was the best decision I have made.'
