2024 staff survey

Each year, we invite all employees to take part in a staff survey. The 2024 survey was carried out by an independent research company in November 2024.

We match the majority of our questions to the Civil Service People Survey (CSPS). Although our role as an independent parliamentary body means we do not take part in the CSPS, using the same questions allows us to compare our results with those of other organisations.

86% of our workforce took part in the 2024 survey, offering their feedback on a range of topics including:

  • management and leadership
  • change in the organisation
  • learning and development
  • the working environment
  • overall engagement with the organisation.

Our overall engagement index score is 62%, which is 6% lower than the previous year. Over the last year, the organisation has been through a period of change and uncertainty while we await the appointment of a permanent Ombudsman. While scores remain high in parts of the survey, including on colleagues’ relationships with their managers and team, we have seen lower scores in a number of areas.

We are involving colleagues across the organisation as we address survey themes and continue to build on our strengths, with regular reporting on progress.
